2021 Kia Seltos
Overview
The 2021 Kia Seltos is a brand-new subcompact crossover that is making its debut to slot between the Soul and the Sportage models. With exceptional interior space, plenty of multimedia features, available all-wheel drive (which the Kia Soul does not offer), and a choice between two great engines, this fuel-efficient utility vehicle is bound to be popular. Not all of the details of the 2021 Kia Seltos had been released as of this writing, but we’ll take a look at all that’s been confirmed about it.
Mechanical Features and Fuel Economy
The 2021 Kia Seltos offers two distinct powertrains. The base powertrain pairs a 146 horsepower 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The upgraded powertrain is a 175 hp turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with a seven-speed automatic transmission. Both options come standard with front-wheel drive with AWD available. The EPA’s official fuel economy ratings aren’t yet available, but all powertrain/drivetrain combinations are expected to exceed 30 mpg.
Interior Comfort and Space
Kia crafted the 2021 Kia Seltos with passenger comfort as a top priority. The interior is made with high-quality materials that provide a level of comfort beyond the expectations for this affordable price point. For a unique touch, there’s even ambient lighting available on the highest trim. And when it comes to cargo space, this newcomer will give its rival compact crossovers a run for their money for sure.
Safety and Technology
All 2021 Kia Seltos models are well set up with high-tech communication and multimedia features. Even the base model gets a touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (many of its competitors only offer one or the other – or even neither – on the base trim). One of its most intriguing features is the available upgraded infotainment system with a 10.3-inch display with integrated navigation and split-screen capability that allows you to view directions and adjust the audio at the same time. Higher trim levels also receive a wireless charging pad for smartphones, a head-up display, a 7-inch color display in the gauge cluster, and three USB ports. For those who want a premium sound system, there’s an available eight-speaker Bose audio system with fractal-textured speaker grilles.
The 2021 Kia Seltos had not undergone any government-issued collision tests as of this writing, but it’s been confirmed to have an available package of active safety technology. Some of the driver aids are available for the 2021 Kia Seltos include highway driving assist, safe exit assist, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and lane departure warning with lane keeping assist.
