2022 Kia Rio for Sale in West Springfield, MA
Trims, Powertrain, and Fuel Economy
Just a pair of trim levels makes up the lineup for the 2022 Kia Rio: the LX and S. Their powertrain consists of a 120-horsepower 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The EPA’s official fuel economy estimate for this front-wheel-drive subcompact car is excellent, at 33 miles per gallon around town and 41 mpg on the highway.
The LX packs so much into a car with a sub-$20K MSRP. Even straightforward features are upgraded; for example, the exterior mirrors are heated to melt frost and the rearview camera is made deluxe with dynamic parking guidelines. It also has headlights with automatic on/off, air conditioning, power windows and locks, an overhead sunglasses holder, a 12V power outlet, and a USB data port.
For infotainment, there’s an 8-inch touchscreen system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth for hands-free phone use and audio streaming, an AM/FM/mp3 audio system with six speakers, and Siri Eyes Free. For safety, there’s a full complement of airbags, including full-length side curtain units for protection from a side collision or rollover. The body is reinforced with crumple zones in the front and rear and side-impact door beams. Other safety-related standard equipment includes electronic stability management, hill start assist, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Kia makes the LX in a limited palette of colors that includes Silky Silver, Clear White, and Aurora Black. The door handles and side mirrors are also painted in body color. Those paint colors all match up with a black tricot/woven cloth interior.
The color choices expand for the S, as it’s made in the same three colors as the LX, plus Sporty Blue, Steel Gray, and Currant Red. It also adds more features, such as cruise control, remote keyless entry with alarm and trunk opener, a pair of USB charge ports, a center storage console with a sliding armrest, and a versatile 60/40-split fold-down rear seatback that extends the trunk space to fit oversized items. This trim is eligible for a significant upgrade via the optional S Technology Package, as described in the next section.
S Technology Package
This abundantly packed option can be added to the S trim to stock it with all of the latest and greatest features for safety and connectivity. It starts with LED headlights, a 4.2-inch instrument cluster, automatic climate control with ionizer, and LED headlights. Smart Key with Push-Button Start is also included to allow proximity locking/unlocking of the doors and starting or stopping the engine. Smart Key also features a vehicle immobilizer so that the vehicle can’t be started without the key fob nearby.
The Kia Drive Wise Driver Assist Technology bundle is another major component of the S Technology Package. It raises the safety factor with technologies like forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, lane departure warning, driver attention warning, and rear occupant alert. The package also adds SiriusXM satellite radio and UVO link Connected Services to the infotainment/connectivity array.
