2022 Kia Sorento PHEV for Sale in West Springfield, MA
Trims, Hybrid System and Range
The ’22 Sorento PHEV is an all-new variant of the well-established Sorento midsized crossover. It’s available in two trims (SX and SX Prestige), both of which can seat up to six passengers. Their plug-in hybrid system consists of a turbocharged 1.6-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor; the combined system output is 261 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission is also standard, along with an all-wheel drivetrain.
According to the official EPA estimates, the ’22 Sorento PHEV travels up to 32 miles on all-electric power and achieves 35 mpg city/33 mpg highway when it’s running on the combustion engine. The Sorento PHEV can be charged either by a common 120-volt charger or the faster 240-volt charger, which is available for home installation. With the 240-volt charger, the Sorento PHEV will be fully juiced in approximately 3 hours and 25 minutes.
Equipment By Trim
While the SX is the base trim, it packs in a lot of great features. All of the lighting systems are LED, including the fog lights and the turn-signal indicators that are integrated into the side mirrors. Plus, its roof shows off satin chrome roof rails and a panoramic moonroof, while its rear end features a power liftgate and privacy glass. The SX also gets Kia’s Smart Key with push-button ignition, which lets you access and start up the Sorento PHEV without using the key fob. Remote start is included as well so you can always get into the vehicle at its ideal temperature. While we’re on the topic of comfort, the SX also has standard dual-zone automatic climate control, heated and power-adjustable front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. The second-row captain’s chairs slide and fold with one touch of a button, and the third-row bench splits 50/50 and reclines.
The SX Prestige adds some significant upgrades, like power-folding side mirrors, a 12.3-inch driver information display, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, perforated leather seats, ventilation for the front seats, a thigh extender and position memory for the driver’s seat, and spiffy aluminum sport pedals. A heated steering wheel and heated second-row seats are its other significant upgrades.
Active Safety and Multimedia Technologies
Kia has packed the Sorento PHEV with a generous number of multimedia and connectivity features. The SX gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen with SiriusXM satellite radio, navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, voice recognition, and a six-speaker sound system. The SX Prestige replaces the six-speaker audio system with a premium Bose unit with a full dozen speakers.
Both trims come with a fully loaded suite of active driver aids. The SX includes forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian, cyclist detection, and junction turning detection, plus blind-spot collision-avoidance assist with parallel exit assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, highway driving assist, speed limit assist, driver attention warning with leading vehicle departure alert, rear parking sensors, rear occupant alert, and safe exit assist. The SX Prestige adds a blind-spot view monitor, front parking sensors, reverse parking collision-avoidance assist, and a surround-view monitor.
