Trims and Powertrain
Buyers of the 2023 Kia Soul can choose from the LX, S, GT-Line, and EX. Their powertrain is a 147 hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a continuously variable transmission; all Kia Souls are front-wheel drive. The EPA has estimated fuel economy for the first three trims at 28 mpg around town and 33 mpg on the open road; this changes to 29 city/35 highway for the EX.
Standard Features and Options
It’s hard to think of the LX as the base Soul because of its premium features, like an all-digital instrument cluster, rear privacy glass, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, and automatic headlights. Some of its other features are power side mirrors, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, a six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat (with height adjustment), single-zone air conditioning, 16-inch steel wheels with covers, automatic high beams, and cruise control. The Soul S adds a 10-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support, dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry with push-button start, wireless device charging, and 16-inch alloy wheels.
Those seeking a sportier ride will appreciate the GT-Line’s upgrades: cloth and leatherette-trimmed seats, sport-tuned shock absorbers, unique front and rear bumpers, body-colored heated side mirrors with integrated turn-signal indicators, a leatherette instrument cluster surround, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Advanced Safety Technology
All Soul versions are equipped with forward collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, lane following assist, driver attention warning, and rear occupant alert. Lane change assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot collision avoidance, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist are optional on the LX and standard with the higher trims. The GT-Line Technology Package adds upgraded automatic emergency braking with junction turning detection, and intelligent speed limit assist.
Infotainment
The LX has everything to keep you informed and entertained thanks to its 8-inch color touchscreen infotainment system; the higher trims upgrade to a 10.25-inch touchscreen. The other standard features in this category are a six-speaker audio system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and a USB input (dual USB ports on the S and higher). The S, EX, and GT-Line add navigation and SiriusXM satellite radio. A Harmon Kardon premium audio system will be added with the GT-Line Technology Package.
