Trims and Powertrains
Kia offers an extensive trim range for the 2024 Sorento, consisting of the LX, S, EX, X-Line EX AWD, SX, X-Line SX AWD, X-Line SX Prestige AWD, and X-Pro SX Prestige AWD. The LX and S editions have a 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, while a 281-horsepower turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder is standard on the higher trims. Except for the front-wheel-drive-only LX, all other Sorento trims come with all-wheel drive as standard or optional equipment. An eight-speed automatic gearbox is paired with the base powerplant; the turbo engine gets an eight-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. The maximum towing capacity ranges from 1,650 to 4,500 pounds, depending on the trim and optional equipment. Estimated fuel economy ranges from 20 to 23 mpg in the city and 27 to 31 mpg on the highway, depending on the trim and drivetrain.
Standard Features
The seven-passenger Sorento LX is focused on the essentials with a sprinkling of convenience features. It has remote start, proximity keyless entry, fabric upholstery, a second-row bench seat, push-button ignition, air conditioning with rear vents, a 4-inch instrument display, LED projector headlights with automatic high beams, heated power side mirrors, a dual-level cargo floor, privacy glass, five USB ports, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The S trim adds dual-zone automatic climate control, a ten-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, SynTex leatherette upholstery, a leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel, wireless device charging, dual second-row USB ports, roof rails, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The EX adds premium touches to the Sorento with second-row captain’s chairs (for six-passenger seating), a power liftgate, an eight-way power front passenger seat, LED fog lights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and 20-inch alloy wheels. The X-Line EX AWD adds ruggedized body styling, a panoramic sunroof with a power sunshade, upgraded interior accents, and LED cabin lighting.
Kia takes the Sorento upscale with the SX, giving it heated and ventilated front seats, power-folding side mirrors, a 12.3-inch curved instrument display, a digital key, rain-sensing windshield wipers, aluminum sport pedals, and LED tail lights. The X-Line SX AWD has all the features of the SX plus trim-specific exterior styling. The X-Line SX Prestige AWD goes further, with leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, a 14-way power driver’s seat with lumbar and thigh extension controls, a ten-way power front passenger seat, heated outboard second-row seats, a driver’s position memory system, a digital rearview mirror, second-row sunshades, and sound-reducing front door window glass. The X-Pro SX Prestige AWD gets exclusive body styling and enhanced off-road capabilities with 17-inch alloy wheels and all-terrain tires.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
A rearview monitor with dynamic guidelines is standard on the 2024 Sorento, along with the Kia Drive Wise suite. This system of the latest driver-assist features compiles forward-collision avoidance assist (with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction detection), lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, speed limit assist, driver attention warning, rear occupant alert, and safe exit assist. All trims but the base LX also get rear parking sensors and highway driving assist. The SX and higher trims are upgraded with enhanced forward collision-avoidance assist, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, and a surround-view monitor. The X-Line SX AWD and above get a blind-spot view monitor while the X-Line SX Prestige AWD and X-Pro SX Prestige AWD also have side parking sensors and reverse parking collision-avoidance assist.
Infotainment and Connectivity
A 12.3-inch touchscreen display is the nerve center of the Sorento’s infotainment experience. The system’s main features are wireless smartphone connectivity (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth, and access to Kia Connect remote services. While most trims get a six-speaker audio system, the X-Line SX Prestige AWD and X-Pro SX Prestige AWD have a Bose arrangement with 12 speakers. All trims but the LX come with navigation and access to a Wi-Fi hotspot.
