Trims and Powertrains
Kia supplies the Sportage Hybrid in a trio of trims: LX, EX, and SX Prestige. The 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine pairs with an electric motor to create 227 horsepower; a six-speed automatic transmission rounds out the powertrain. Buyers can choose from the standard front-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive. There’s also a standard drive-mode selector with Normal, Sport, and Smart settings. When the 2024 Sportage Hybrid is equipped correctly, it can tow as much as 2,000 pounds.
Most folks in the market for a Sportage Hybrid are drawn to its fuel economy. According to the EPA, all trims with FWD return an estimated 42 mpg around town and 44 mpg on the highway. With AWD, the city and highway ratings are both 38 mpg.
Standard Features
The LX is supplied with woven cloth upholstery, manually adjustable driver’s and passenger’s seats, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents, a USB media port and charging port, a 12.2-inch digital instrument display, rain-sensing windshield wipers, 60/40 split-folding and reclining rear seats, a dual-level cargo floor, power-adjustable side view mirrors, and 17-inch alloy wheels. This trim is eligible for an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink.
The EX gets the Smart Key system, SynTex simulated leather upholstery, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 10-way power driver’s seat with lumbar adjustment, wireless device charging, heated power-adjustable side view mirrors with LED signal indicators, and 18-inch machine-finished alloy wheels. The available EX Premium Package will add LED interior lighting, a smart power liftgate, and a panoramic sunroof. The SX Prestige ramps things up with premium SynTex upholstery, an 8-way power passenger seat, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, driver’s seat memory, interior mood lighting, a panoramic sunroof with a power sunshade, and 18-inch matte-gray alloy wheels.
Advanced Driver Aids
All Kia Sportage Hybrids feature the Drive Wise active safety technology suite, featuring forward collision avoidance, pedestrian and cyclist detection, rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, lane following assist, lane keep assist, driver attention monitoring with leading vehicle departure alert, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, a rearview camera and rear occupant alert. A rearview camera with dynamic parking guidance is included as well. The EX and SX Prestige also get blind-spot monitoring, safe exit warning, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist. The SX Prestige alone has a blind-spot view monitor, junction turning detection, front parking sensors, reverse collision avoidance, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, highway driving assist, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and a surround-view monitor.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The standard connectivity amenities in the 2024 Sportage Hybrid are Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and a sound system. The LX has an 8-inch touchscreen while the EX and SX Prestige upgrade to a 12.3-inch touchscreen and add navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Kia Connect access.
