Trims Levels, Mechanicals, and Performance

With the five-passenger ’24 Sportage, you’ll have a choice of seven trims: LX, EX, X-Line, SX, SX Prestige, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige. Each gets a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 187 hp and 178 lb.-ft. of torque that’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard in most of them, but the X-Line, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige come with all-wheel drive (which is available for all but the SX). With FWD, the ’24 Sportage achieves an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. This changes to 23 city/28 highway with AWD. Regarding towing, the ’24 Sportage can pull up to 2,000 pounds with trailer brakes.

Standard and Available Features

The base LX mainly has a blend of essentials and some convenience features: automatic LED headlights, remote keyless entry, a USB-C charging port, cloth upholstery, manual air conditioning, a 60/40-split rear seatback, and a dual-level cargo floor. It’s also eligible for the optional heated front seats and heated exterior mirrors. Those amenities come standard in the EX, along with proximity keyless entry, remote start, push-button ignition, a pair of second-row USB-C charging ports, a wireless phone charge pad, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, synthetic-leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Roof rails are optional.

The X-Line has a more striking design, plus high-utility roof rails and trim-specific synthetic-leather upholstery. On top of that, it’s eligible for a panoramic sunroof, a power liftgate, and LED interior lighting. The SX expands upon the EX with the items that were optional on the X-Line and also gets position memory for the driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped shift knob, and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Meanwhile, the SX Prestige gains ventilated front seats with power adjustments for the front passenger, a heated steering wheel, improved synthetic-leather upholstery, and LED fog lights.
The X-Pro lacks the SX Prestige’s ventilated front seats and power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, but it gets a heated windshield, the unique X-Line upholstery, stainless-steel pedals, high-utility roof rails, and all-terrain tires. Those omitted items are included on the X-Pro Prestige.

Safety and Convenience

Kia installs a full array of active driving aids in the 2024 Sportage. The LX receives forward collision avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, driver attention warning, and rear occupant alert. With the EX and X-Line, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, and safe exit warning are issued. The SX and X-Pro are both bolstered with adaptive cruise control and highway driving assist, while the Prestige variants gets it all with a blind-spot view monitor, front parking sensors, reverse parking collision-avoidance assist, and a surround-view camera.

Entertainment and Audio

The multimedia system in the entry-level LX consists of an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth wireless connectivity, while the EX and remaining trims come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen featuring navigation and SiriusXM satellite radio. For audio, the LX, EX, and X-Line each have a basic six-speaker setup, but the rest of the lineup is treated to a superior eight-speaker Harman Kardon unit for the ultimate listening experience.
