Trims, Powertrain, and Performance

The all-new 2025 Carnival MPV Hybrid is presented in four trims: LXS, EX, SX, and SX Prestige. The gas-electric powerplant in each combines a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with a 56-kW electric motor for a total system output of 242 hp and 271 lb.-ft. of torque. This power is managed by a six-speed automatic transmission. The fuel efficiency is, of course, a main attraction of this model: the EPA estimates that it returns 34 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. You can also tow up to 2,500 pounds with the Carnival MPV Hybrid, regardless of the trim level.

Standard and Available Equipment

The base LXS has a great list of features with remote start, leatherette (SynTex) upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, a power driver’s seat, tri-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry, push-button ignition, power-sliding rear doors, heated power-adjustable side mirrors with integrated LED turn indicators, automatic LED headlights, and variable intermittent windshield wipers. Its other conveniences include second-row Slide-Flex seating, a 60/40-split folding third-row seatback, a 4.2-inch driver information display, and multiple USB-C ports.

The EX gets slightly more loaded with wireless phone charging, a power liftgate, driver’s seat memory settings, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, Kia’s Passenger View (in-cabin camera) and Passenger Talk (in-cabin intercom) systems, roof rails, power-folding side mirrors, manual sunshades for the second and third rows, and premium wood-grain interior trim. The SX goes further on sophistication with ventilated front seats, Digital Key 2, dual power sunroofs, a 24-inch panoramic curved display that unites a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, two 115-volt power outlets, rain-sensing windshield wipers, LED fog lights, and skid plates. The SX Prestige takes the top spot with genuine leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, an 11-inch head-up display, and a frameless rearview mirror with HomeLink.

Both the SX and SX Prestige qualify for Kia’s new Connected Car Rear Cockpit (ccRC) entertainment system, which features dual 14.6-inch high-definition monitors. While most trims can seat up to eight passengers, the SX Prestige is eligible for heated and ventilated second-row lounge chairs, which will reduce the capacity to seven. This top-of-the-line trim also has ambient interior lighting as an option.

Drive Wise Safety Tech

Every ‘25 Carnival MPV Hybrid trim comes with Kia’s excellent suite of Drive Wise safety technologies. This grouping consists of adaptive cruise control, forward collision-avoidance assist (with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction-turning detection), blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, front and rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, highway driving assist, speed limit assist, driver attention monitoring, rear occupant alert, and safe exit assist. As the most extensively equipped trims, the SX and SX Prestige get additional advanced safety technologies: a live-feed blind-spot view monitor, enhanced forward collision avoidance with evasive steering and lane change assistance, side parking sensors, reverse parking collision-avoidance assist, a surround-view camera, and upgraded highway driving assist.

Multimedia and Connectivity

All Carnival MPV Hybrids have a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, voice recognition, wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and Bluetooth. The EX, SX, and SX Prestige step things up with rear-seat voice recognition. While the LXS has a six-speaker audio system, the EX and SX add another pair of speakers, and the SX Prestige gets a prime-quality Bose unit with a dozen speakers.
