EV6
The 2023 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year underwent a mid-cycle refresh for the 2025 model year. The EV6, Kia’s electric crossover, is back with upgrades both inside and out. For 2025, Kia has raised the battery capacity for each of the EV6’s powertrains, increasing the base battery pack from 58 kWh to 63 kWh and upping the larger battery from 77.4 kWh to 84 kWh. This new battery extends the EV6’s range up to 319 miles – an increase of nine miles over the previous model year’s top range.
The most significant difference with the revamped electric powerplant is evident in the performance-inspired GT trim, which now generates up to 641 horsepower (65 more ponies than the previous model year). This new-and-improved GT is faster off the line, reaching 60 mph from a standstill in just 3.6 seconds, which can be trimmed down to 3.4 seconds using its exclusive launch mode, for a 1.1-second improvement over its predecessor’s 0 to 60 time. Across the lineup, a new infotainment setup features a larger touchscreen and digital instrument cluster to match; both are 0.3 inches wider than the 2024 model’s, creating an expanded panoramic dual-screen display. Wireless smartphone streaming through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is now standard, offering more connectivity than the outgoing system. Wireless smartphone charging capabilities further enhance the EV6’s convenience factor, while a new bumper and headlight design give the EV6’s front end an undeniably commanding presence.

Drivers have the choice of five EV6 trims: Light, Light Long Range, Wind, GT-Line, and GT. The Light is made solely with rear-wheel-drive (RWD), with a 63-kWh battery and a single electric motor that produces 167 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. The Light Long Range, Wind, and GT-Line are offered with RWD or all-wheel drive (AWD); both get an 84-kWh battery. The rear-wheel drivetrain gets a single electric motor producing 225 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, while the AWD versions add a second motor on the front axle, netting 320 total horsepower and 446 lb.-ft. of torque. The GT (AWD only) surpasses the rest of the lineup with 601 horsepower and 545 lb.-ft. of torque. As mentioned, it has a launch mode that allow it to reach up to 641 horsepower and 568 lb.-ft. of torque. The Light Long Range, Wind, and GT-Line RWD models all boast a 319-mile drive range, followed by the Light Long Range AWD and Wind AWD at 295 miles, the GT-Line AWD at 270 miles, the Light at 237 miles, and the GT at 231 miles. The Light takes the lead in fuel efficiency, returning 128 MPGe city and 103 MPGe highway. The Light Long Range, Wind, and GT-Line RWD models match the Light’s city mileage but come in at 101 MPGe highway. The AWD Light Long Range and Wind follow at 117 MPGe city/95 highway, while the AWD GT-Line drops to 106 city/89 highway, and the GT achieves 87 city/79 highway.
Every EV6 is equipped with regenerative braking paddles and a drive-mode selector with Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow settings, complemented by Hidden Drift Mode on the GT-Line and GT, as well as the GT Exclusive Drive Mode on the GT. The lower four trims have MacPherson front struts with selective damping and an independent multi-link rear suspension, along with 12.8-inch ventilated front and solid rear brake rotors. The GT alone upgrades to an electronically controlled front and rear suspension, along with 15-inch front rotors and 14.2-inch rear rotors (both ventilated). The Wind, GT-Line, and GT can power external devices using their vehicle-to-load capabilities, and a heat pump system helps all AWD EV6s extend their range.
Charging Times
Every trim is equipped with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) compatible charging port and a 10.9-kW onboard charger. The GT can charge from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 18 minutes using a 350 kW Level 3 DC Fast Charger, which drops to approximately 20 minutes for the rest of the lineup. The Light leads the pack when using a 240-volt Level 2 AC charger, charging from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 5 hours and 40 minutes, followed by the others at 7 hours and 20 minutes.
