The 2025 Kia Niro EV comes in a pair of trim levels called Wind and Wave. They both have a single-motor, front-wheel-drive platform powered by a 65 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery. The system produces 201 horsepower with a maximum range of 253 miles.
Kia estimates that charging the Niro EV from 10% to 80% takes 43 minutes when it’s plugged into a Level 3/DC fast charger at 350 kW capacity. A Level 2/240-volt charger requires about six hours for the same achievement. The EPA’s miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) rating is 113 combined. Cargo space ranges from 22.8 cubic feet behind the second row to 63.7 cubic feet with the back seats folded down.
The Wind is packed with premium amenities such as remote start, dual-zone climate control, SynTex leatherette and fabric upholstery, heated front seats, a ten-way power driver’s seat, a power liftgate, wireless device charging, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument display. It also gets proximity keyless entry, push-button start, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, a leatherette-wrapped steering wheel, second-row air vents, a dual-level cargo floor, automatic bi-halogen headlights, five USB ports (three in the front row), and 17-inch alloy wheels. The optional Wind Reserve package will add heated rear outboard seats, a heat pump (for added cabin comfort), and a battery warmer (for improved efficiency).
Kia elevates the Niro EV with the Wave by giving it standard heated and ventilated front seats, a power sunroof, perforated SynTex upholstery, a heated steering wheel, a ten-way power front passenger seat, a driver’s memory system, LED cabin lighting, and a head-up display. Also included are LED headlights, LED fog lights, sound-reducing windshield and front window glass, heated power-folding side mirrors, aluminum pedals, a 1,900-watt onboard power generator, a battery warmer, an electrochromic rearview mirror, and digital key capability. Buyers who opt for the Wave Reserve Package will enjoy more comfort thanks to heated rear outboard seats and a heat pump.
Kia Drive Wise is installed in both trim levels of the 2025 Niro EV. It consists of forward collision-avoidance assist (with pedestrian, cyclist detection, and junction turning), blind-spot collision warning (with parallel exit), lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, highway driving assist, adaptive cruise control, speed limit assist, and automatic high beams. Both trims also have driver attention warning (with lead vehicle warning), rear occupant alert, safe exit warning, and rear parking sensors. The Wave also gets rear blind-spot collision avoidance assist (with parallel exit), upgraded highway driving assist (with automatic lane change and machine learning), front parking sensors, and semi-autonomous Remote Smart Parking assist. Supplemental safety equipment found on both trims includes airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, hill-start assist control, and a rearview monitor with dynamic guidelines.
The Niro EV’s infotainment hub is a 10.25-inch touchscreen. It supports navigation, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a multi-speaker audio system (with a Harman Kardon upgrade for the Wave). Both trims provide access to Kia Connect services for emergency help, vehicle monitoring, and other features.
