2026 Kia EV9 Hero

The all-electric EV9 stands out from the crowd with its aggressive stance, triangular exterior accents, and Kia’s new take on its signature Tiger Face front end. Now in its third model year, the EV9 embraces the latest EV technology, including 800-volt architecture for rapid charging and up to 304 miles of range. Performance is another EV9 trademark, with some trims able to reach 60 mph from a standstill in five seconds, meaning that this vehicle has traits as diverse as sports-car speed and family-hauling dimensions. Speaking of interior space, the EV9 offers 20.2 cubic feet of dedicated cargo room behind the third row, which can be expanded to 43.5 cubic feet when the third row is unoccupied and folded down. That can grow to 81.9 cubic feet when the second row is also free of passengers.

Kia is known for its stellar warranty terms, and it stands behind the EV9 with bumper-to-bumper protection for five years or 60,000 miles and powertrain coverage (including the EV battery) for ten years or 100,000 miles. Roadside assistance for five years or 60,000 miles is also included.

Trims and Powertrains

Buyers of the 2026 Kia EV9 have five trim options: Light RWD, Light Long Range RWD, Wind AWD, Land AWD, and GT-Line AWD. As the names imply, the Light and Light Long Range editions have rear-wheel drive (RWD) via a single, rear-axle electric motor. The three trims above them move to an all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup with dual electric motors (one per axle).

The Light has an output of 215 horsepower and a 76.1 kWh battery that enables estimated range of 230 miles. While the Light Long Range has a slightly less powerful electric motor (201 hp), its battery is larger (99.8 kWh) and allows for a range of up to 304 miles. This same battery is used in the higher dual-motor trims, which both have a combined output of 379 horsepower. The Wind and Land trims carry an estimated range of 280 miles, while the GT-Line offers 270 miles.

Towing capacity with trailer brakes varies from 2,000 pounds in the Light and Light Long Range to 5,000 lb. for the Land and GT-Line. The Wind falls in between, with the capacity to pull up to 3,500 lb. With Level 3/DC fast charging at 350 kW capacity, EV9s with the larger battery require about 24 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% (20 minutes for the Light trim). A North American Charging Standard (NACS) connection is included with every trim.

Standard Features

While the Light RWD trim starts out the EV9 range, it's far from a base edition as far as its amenities. It has SynTex leatherette upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats with eight-way power controls, a power tailgate, tri-zone automatic climate control, a digital key, wireless device charging, a 24.6-inch panoramic display panel that combines the instrument cluster and infotainment screen, a 5-inch climate display, and a seven-passenger seating configuration (with a second-row bench seat). This trim also has LED exterior lighting, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, automatic exterior door handles, power-folding and heated side mirrors, rear privacy glass, six USB ports, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, LED cabin lighting, and 19-inch wheels. The Light Long Range RWD adds a sunroof and a six-passenger layout with second-row captain's chairs.

The upgrades for the Wind AWD include dual sunroofs, a heated steering wheel, roof rails, a cabin heat pump, and seven-passenger seating. The Land AWD brings a long list of upscale amenities to the EV9, with an enhanced driver's seat (with additional power controls), heated and ventilated second-row captain's chairs (six-passenger configuration), a driver's memory seat, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering column, an onboard power generator, LED projector-style headlights, an illuminated front grille, unique exterior treatments, rear window curtains, a digital rearview mirror, a drawer-type glove box, and a second-row slide-out console tray and storage.

The GT-Line takes the EV9 further up the premium scale with a self-leveling rear suspension, upgraded front seats with massage and additional power controls (the driver's seat also has power bolsters), a head-up display, trim-specific front and rear fascias, exclusive interior and exterior treatments, a suede-like headliner (with matching coverings on the pillars and sun visors), and 21-inch lightweight alloy wheels. The GT-Line can also be equipped with the optional VIP Captain's Chairs Package, which upgrades the second row with massaging seats featuring two-way leg support and wing-out headrests.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

All EV9 trims are equipped with a comprehensive set of advanced driver-assistance technologies. The list includes navigation-based adaptive cruise control, forward collision-avoidance assist (with car/pedestrian/cyclist detection and junction turning/cross, lane change oncoming/side, and evasive steering assist), blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, and lane-following assist, highway driving assist, front and rear parking sensors, automatic high beams, rear occupant alert, and safe exit assist. All trims get a rearview monitor with dynamic guidelines, an array of airbags, stability control, and traction control.

Higher trims get even more safety tech. The Land and GT-Line add reverse parking collision avoidance assist, side parking sensors, a surround-view monitor, and a blind-spot view monitor. The GT-Line also gets front and side parking collision-avoidance assist and Remote Smart Parking Assist.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Infotainment in the EV9 happens through a 12.3-inch touchscreen that’s integrated into the panoramic display panel in the dashboard. The system consists of navigation, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming. All trims have Wi-Fi hotspot capability and access to Kia Connect, a suite of connected services for emergency support, vehicle monitoring, and remote functions. The lower trims have an eight-speaker sound system that’s upgraded to a 14-speaker Meridian arrangement in the Land and GT-Line.
