2026 Sportage (Gas-Only)

Kia will present the gasoline-powered 2026 Sportage in LX, EX, SX, SX-Prestige, X-Line, and X-Pro Prestige trims. A 2.5-liter inline-four-cylinder engine making an estimated 187 horsepower will with an eight-speed automatic transmission to form the powertrain. Buyers will be able to choose between front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD), with a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds with the proper equipment.

Feature highlights for the gasoline-only 2026 Sportage include a refreshed exterior design with revised bumpers and lighting elements and new wheel designs ranging from 17 to 19 inches. The X-Pro Prestige will cater to off-road enthusiasts with features like all-terrain tires and matte black wheels.

2026 Sportage Hybrid

The 2026 Sportage Hybrid will be available in LX, S (new), EX, X-Line (new), and SX-Prestige trims. It will be powered by a revised gas-electric powerplant consisting of a turbocharged 1.6-liter gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine and a 47.7 kW motor paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid powertrain will produce an estimated 231 horsepower (a four-horsepower increase over last year) and will be available with FWD or AWD. The towing capacity for this hybrid variant will be 2,000 pounds. With this model, Kia will introduce a Terrain Mode (Snow, Mud, Sand) for X-Line and all other trims with AWD.

2026 Sportage Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV)

The 2026 Sportage Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) will have a streamlined trim selection of just the X-Line and X-Line Prestige. It will host an updated turbocharged 1.6-liter gasoline direct-injection (GDI) engine and a 72 kW motor teamed with a six-speed automatic transmission and standard AWD. The PHEV will put out an estimated 268 combined horsepower (a 7-horsepower increase over the previous model year). Its projected towing limit is 2,000 pounds.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

All three 2026 Sportage variants will be set up with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assist technologies. Among the new standard features will be upgraded automatic emergency braking (with pedestrian, cyclist, and vehicle detection) and hands-on detection (a touch-sensitive steering wheel that confirms driver engagement). You can expect optional upgrades like forward collision-avoidance assist (with direct oncoming detection and avoidance), enhanced highway driving assist, and a new parking sensor system that includes side monitoring (in addition to front and rear coverage).

Infotainment and Connectivity

The 2026 Sportage family will feature significant infotainment and connectivity upgrades. A newly integrated Connected Car Navigation Cockpit with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, over-the-air updates, and wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay will be standard. Kia Connect services will offer vehicle monitoring, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and other remote features. The available Digital Key 2.0 will allow owners to lock, unlock, start, and share access to their 2026 Kia Sportage using a compatible smart device.
