2027 Kia Seltos Preview Hero

Since its launch for the 2021 model year, the subcompact Seltos has been one of Kia’s best sellers in the U.S., offering style, value, and versatility. For 2027, the automaker takes this crossover to the next level with the all-new second generation. The model’s recent unveiling at the New York Auto Show revealed that it reflects styling cues from another recent Kia redesign, the highly anticipated Telluride. One highlight of the new Seltos will be a larger footprint for more interior room and expanded technology, including an available triple-panel integrated dashboard display.

What truly separates the 2027 Seltos from its predecessors will be the availability of a hybrid powertrain. While the first generation’s naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines will carry over, the hybrid edition is expected to follow later in the year. Final specifications and details will be announced by the automaker closer to the on-sale date. In the meantime, we’ve compiled this preview of available information.

Revised Design

The 2027 Seltos will follow Kia’s “Opposites United” design, with a front end that incorporates amber daytime running lights framing the fascia, while sharper body lines and available aerodynamic flush door handles contribute to a more modern appearance. The wheelbase has been stretched by 2.4 inches, bringing with it increased ground clearance, a more planted look, and improved light off-road capability.

Cabin Space and Interior Layout

The larger footprint of the 2027 Seltos will translate into more usable space inside. Kia says the longer wheelbase and added overall length will translate to increased legroom, including an extra inch for rear passengers. The cabin will also see improvements in headroom, shoulder room, and hip room across both rows.

The cabin will adopt a more horizontal layout, with clean lines stretching across the dash and into the doors. On the hybrid version, a stalk-mounted shifter will move gear selection to the steering column, opening up the center console for additional storage. With both rows in use by passengers, the 2027 Seltos will provide 27.8 cubic feet of cargo space, which will expand to 64.1 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down.

Trims and Powertrains

The 2027 Kia Seltos will be offered in LX, S, EX, and X-Line trim levels. Most of those will feature a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an Intelligent Variable Transmission and optional all-wheel drive (front-wheel drive will come standard). The X-Line will be available with a 190-horsepower turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, paired with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

A hybrid variant will join the lineup for the first time. Exclusive to the X-Line, this setup will use a 1.6-liter engine with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and will be offered with either front-wheel drive or electrified all-wheel-drive (e-AWD).

Safety and Driver Assistance

The new Seltos will expand its driver-assistance technology with a broader list of standard and available systems. Forward collision avoidance assist with junction turning will be included, along with lane-keeping assist, driver attention monitoring, and high-beam assist. Available technologies will include a surround-view camera system, a blind-spot view monitor, and enhanced parking assistance. Additional systems such as rear cross-traffic alert and safe exit warning will be offered on higher trims.

Technology and Connectivity

The 2027 Seltos will adopt Kia’s latest connected infotainment system, centered around a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen. An available setup will add a matching 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a separate 5-inch climate panel, bringing the total screen area to nearly 30 inches. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will both be standard, along with over-the-air update capability.

Look for AI-based voice assistant to be available to support more natural voice commands. Plus, Kia Connect will enable remote vehicle access through a smartphone. Additional features will include streaming capability for select apps and customizable display themes, along with multiple USB-C ports throughout the cabin.
