Visit the West Springfield Public Library

The West Springfield Library has been a staple of this community for over 150 years, bringing the joys of literacy and learning to readers of all ages. Their recently updated space is a great place to connect with friends, discover something new, and spend a peaceful afternoon with a good book.

Library History

The West Springfield Library opened in 1864. Originally operating out of town hall, the library moved to its own space in 1915. Two years ago, the library underwent a massive renovation and expansion, adding on close to an additional 20,000 square feet to house a new children’s space, arts and crafts area, and community room that can seat up to 150 people. The expansion also included a new parking structure for added convenience, and the space now hosts a brighter, more inviting atmosphere.

Hours and Services

Serving nearly 600 West Springfield patrons a day, the library offers a wide variety of services and events throughout the year. In addition to their expansive catalog, the West Springfield Library provides classes in everything from knitting to managing finances, while hosting guest speakers and themed movie nights. Patrons can take advantage of online foreign language courses and reading materials, as well as discounted museum passes to Amelia Park Children’s Museum, Forest Park Zoo, Mystic Aquarium, and more.

• Monday – Wednesday: 9am – 9pm
• Thursday – Saturday: 9am – 5pm
• Sunday: Closed
