Trims, Powertrain, and Performance

There’s just one trim level – the SX Prestige for the six-passenger ’24 Sorento PHEV. Its power comes from a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder internal combustion engine and a permanent magnet electric motor, which combine to make 261 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission feeds this power to the standard all-wheel drive system. If you plan on towing a small trailer or boat, note that the Sorento PHEV can pull up to 2,000 pounds.

Range, Fuel Economy, and Charging

The 13.8 kWh battery in the ’24 Sorento PHEV enables an all-electric driving range of 32 miles, or 79 MPGe. Once electricity is spent, the powertrain will revert to conventional hybrid operation, returning an EPA-estimated 35 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. Recharging the powertrain battery is an efficient process, as it only takes 3 hours and 25 minutes when the vehicle is plugged in to a 240V outlet.

Upscale Amenities

Kia loads the Sorento PHEV SX Prestige with a bounty of premium features, including remote start and proximity keyless entry. Its exterior highlights are roof rails, rain-sensing wipers, heated power-folding side mirrors with turn indicators, a power tailgate, automatic LED headlights, LED fog lights, and a panoramic sunroof. The cabin’s conveniences consist of push-button start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, power-adjustable front seats with thigh extension and position memory for the driver, a one-touch sliding and folding second-row seat, second-row sunshades, and a dual-level cargo floor. Safety Technology

The ’24 Sorento PHEV is equipped with the Kia Drive Wise safety suite, which bundles forward collision-avoidance assist (with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction turning detection), blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, parking sensors (front and rear), lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, rear occupant alert, and safe exit assist. It also has a blind-spot view monitor, reverse parking collision-avoidance assist, a surround-view camera, navigation-based smart cruise control with stop-and-go, highway driving assist, intelligent speed limit assist, and driver attention warning with leading vehicle departure alert.
